The Wandsworth Council Green Plaque, created in pa

The Wandsworth Council Green Plaque, created in partnership with the Nubian Jak Community Trust, celebrates Bob Marley’s historic connection to Battersea Park.

Everyone is warmly invited to this free memorial event, taking place at the Cricket Pavilion, Battersea Park.

Saturday 25th October 12pm
No booking required

The plaque will be unveiled by Marsha De Cordova MP, with Dr. Jak Beula and Jeanne Rathbone of the Battersea Society serving as Masters of Ceremony.

This special commemoration is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of Wandsworth’s year as the London Borough of Culture.

Reverend Gyoro Nagase based in Battersea Park marched for peace, chanting and playing drums through London to urge the end of war. @nytopinion
The Reverend Gyoro Nagase, 73, has cared for the Peace Pagoda since 1985.

This particular pagoda was gifted to London in 1984 by Venerable Nichidatsu ‘Guruji’ Fuji, a close friend of Mahatma Gandhi.
